"We will make a special, distinguished college together. I will start education which creates value for companies that hire our college graduates," Lee said during his inauguration speech in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province.

Lee majored in law at the prestigious Seoul National University and started his career at LG Chem in 1966. Previously, he also served as vice chairman and CEO of LG Insurance, currently known as LIG Insurance.

Cheonam Yonam College was established by the LG Yonam Educational Foundation in 1974 to promote eco-friendly agricultural studies.
